T. Scott's Story

Life Immediately after high school, I went to Purdue University and began a major in chemistry. I didn't do as well as I had hoped, and ended up switching to a history major. I studied biblical history and ancient history. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1986. I then attended Yale University until 1988. I was studying Assyriology, which is the study of the languages and literature of the ancient near east. However, I finally realized what all of you already know, which is that money is essential. So I took a year off, got only half way finished with a private pilot's license, and started taking some classes at Purdue while working in the soil testing laboratory. ting a Master of Science degree from Purdue in Soil Fertility. While pursuing that degree, I met Amie. We got married when I graduated in 1991. We moved to Texas and I finished my Ph.D. in Soil Science at Texas A&M in 1996. In February of 1997, our only daughter Olivia was born. I worked for the Potash & Phosphate Institute as a scientist until 2007. After that, the Potash and Phosphate Institute became the International Plant Nutrition Institute and I now work for them. Amie and I are currently physically separated and in the third year of divorce proceedings (her idea). Olivia is adjusting better than I had ever hoped. I'm now in West Lafayette Indiana, working from a home office for the Institute.
