Joe's Story
I joined the National Guard in 1988 and was deployed to the Gulf During Desert Shield/Storm. I graduated from Purdue University in 1994 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant on active duty in the army. I was married in 1994 and became a father in 1996. n South Korea; Fort Carson, CO; Camp Doha Kuwait; Baghdad Iraq; and back to Fort Lee, VA again. I got out of the amry in 2005 and began working for the Department of the Army. I also joined the Virginia Army National Guard to finish out my 20 years. I will deploy again to Afghanistan in September of 2008 for 13 months.
