Bruce's Story

Where do I begin.....Well after graduation I went into the Marine Corps. Without a doubt the best thing I have ever done. It sent me on the right path in life. I spent eleven years in the Marines . It was my calling and I should have stayed and retired. I was an E-7 (GYSGT) when I got out . I did so many things and saw so much of the world, I would never have had the opportunity to experience anywhere else. I was a Drill instructor at Paris Island SC where i trained new recruits coming into boot camp. I also was part of an elite Force Recon Unit that was assigned very special assignments and operations. I was fortunate enough to attend Jump school and SCUBA school while assigned to that unit. My final assignment was a tough one.........Kaneoe Hawaii (LOL). When people thank me for my service I always tell them it was my honor and a privilege to have served. A funny thing happened to me while i was in the Marines.....I had a friend from Texas and one night while in the squadbay he asked me if i wanted to go watch him practice Bullriding.. I accepted the offer and well you know where I'm going with this because you know me.....Yup I got on a bull and he threw me half way across the arena. I fell in love with the sport and never looked back...untill now. I rode bulls and bareback horses for almost 10 years in amateur rodeo's. Six broken ribs, a broken arm and countless groin tears, I would never change a thing. I still today keep in touch with some of the Cowboys I rode with. I got married and bought a house in Kansas where i was a policeman for about a year. It wasn't what i thought it would be so i left the f...Expand for more
orce and got a divorce . I met a guy and his wife from Texas (something about me and Texas) and he worked at a Nuclear power station close by and he got me a job there. To make a long story short i worked hard and received lots of training and worked my way up to an Inspector supervisor. Our company managed all the radiation seals/shields/seismic gaps and fire seals for new Nuclear Power Stations. It was fascinating to say the least. I even worked up at Salisbury and also at Plymouth so i was close to home. All good things must end...the US stopped building Nuclear plants for several years so i was off to a new chapter in my life. So how did I get to Ohio....the middle of nowhere you ask...well the last nuclear power station i was assigned to was in Shippingport, Pa. right on the Ohio/WV/Pa boarder. I was tired of traveling and i answered an add for a car dealership. It was temporary I thought but that was over twenty years ago. I virtually managed every department at one time or another I guess they couldn't find a job i was good at...lol. So here I am the typical baby boomer, married (3rd time was a charm) 2 grown kids 2 grand children I have retired twice but just cant seem to stay away. Life has been good to me. Probably better than I deserve. I am an ordained minister. .I have some regrets as lots of people do. . I have been estranged from my family and friends for much too long. I have been a poor communicator... You always hurt the ones you love. This has been very therapeutic for me reaching out to my past in hopes for a blessed future...feel free to reach out to me..I would love to hear from you.
