Vivian's Story

After graduation I went to work full time as a secretary at a publishing house in town. Got married 2 years after graduation and have been happily married for 47 years now. Earl and I have 4 children (a daughter, Dina, a son, Chris, and twin girls - Jeanine and Kerry); also 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 13 years old to 5 years old. We're very proud of them all. We were blessed with good kids. Dina is a graphic designer; Chris works as a foreman for a baking company (he and his wife, Jen, have given us 3 of our grands); Kerry is a pediatrician, and Jeanine is one of the best moms on earth (she and her husband, Tom (the pastor of our church - BREAD OF LiFE in Quakertown), have given us the other 2 grands)and Jeanine is an undergrad for a teaching degree. Doing things a little differently --when my twins were 4 years old I decided to enter college in a computer science course. After a year, I decided it wasn't my thing and went to work in the Purchasing Dept. of a valve company. Looking for a better job, I then worked as an executive assistant in the engineering industry, and my last position was with a clinical research company as assistant to the Sr VP who was also the chief medical officer. Low and behold as is happening to so many these days, our company was bought out by a British firm and 50 of us lost our jobs in one fell swoop. That was in August of 2006, a few short years after we had moved into our home in the country. After kicking it around for a while, I decided to take early retirement. Best thing I ever did!!!! Now we're both retired and loving it!!!! It gives me time to do the things I want to do without any time constraints -- primarily making semi-precious jewelry, knitting for the prayer shawl ministry, cooking, and reading my Bible and other great books that I never had time for before. In looking back the Lord has brought us through so many things: the loss of our first child, several severe illn...Expand for more
esses, a parent with Alzheimer's, job losses, and our daughter Jeanine stricken with MS at age 25, to name a few. No where does it say that "life is easy" - but that we'd have trials on this earth. But you know what, through them our family has a cohesive and genuine love for one another. Although there's been trials, we've had great, great blessings as well. If I could leave anything behind to my children, family, and friends, it is this: to trust in Jesus with all your heart no matter what the circumstances are... and He always, ALWAYS, will see you through. He is truly my Lord and my Savior. I am forever and eternally grateful to Him. Invite Him into your life today; you won't be sorry. Love to all who will read this!! Addendum: last March of 2014 my husband, Earl, was diagnosed with 4th stage leukemia (AML). He pulled through some very rough times with the chemo, pneumonia and C-DIF, and actually started to get better. He was in Intensive Care for 2 weeks and he came home. His 74th birthday was April 13th and around that time he was actually mowing the grass on his tractor. About a month later; he took a fall and fractured his shoulder. He also developed sepsis. On May 12th I took him to the hospital for a round of chemo and he developed a fever. He was brought down to the Emergency Room and admitted once again to the hospital. That night I got a call from the doctor at 11:30 PM saying he had passed. My family was in such a state of shock, and to some degree, still are! Earl was tough. Even though he pulled through twice, we thought he would get through this once again. The Lord had other plans. Earl always loved motorcycles. I think it broke his heart to sell his motorcycle a few years back ( he thought he may be getting too old to ride). I believe Jesus came to pick him up on the night of May 12, 2014 with a "golden heavenly Harley". Now he can ride to his heart's content! Rest in peace, Honey!
