Karen's Story
Life
I was married in 1986 and widowed in 1998. I used to have three wonderful dogs but they all got old and sick and I had to put them to sleep. I now have my mom's dog (Richie) and a cat (Misty). I am very active in my church -- Church Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty, OH. I am the Praise Team Coordinator and Worship Leader.
Workplace
I worked for Howland Letter Service as a typographer immediately out of high school then moved on to the Advertising Department of Phar-Mor, Inc. as the senior typographer. After being laid off from Phar-Mor, I worked odds and ends jobs to get by as my husband's health was failing. I then landed a job as Second National Bank of Warren as a Customer Information Clerk in December of 1996. In January of 1998 I was promoted to Operations Specialist III in the Deposit Services Department and in January of 2000 I was promoted to Operations Supervisor for the same department. In September of 2002 I was promoted to Data Specialist in IT. In 2004, Sky Bank acquired Second National Bank and I was hired in and also promoted to a System Software Specialist in the Application Services Department in Ne...Expand for more
w Castle, PA. On Aug. 1, 2006, I switched over to First Place Bank as a Business Analyst (Huntington Bank announced the acquisition of Sky Bank in December of '06 so I got out just in time). I am still at First Place. I was brought in to help with the conversion from ITI to OSI software. I managed converting all the Interfaces. Once we were converted, I managed the Batch Operations, trained new batch operators, and created documentation for batch in relation to audit. I now manage all testing of two different databases and prepare them to be installed onto our production database - fixes, releases, new programs, etc.
Personal:
I have been living with my mom since my dad passed away in 2003. Mom had a severe accident in 2001 in which she has severe brain damage. She is able to do everyday things but not truly able to live alone. So we travel. We've been to Hawaii, Fanning Island, and Alaska. We make annual trips to Florida to visit my grandparents so we've done some vacationing there also (Palm Springs, Anna Maria Island, Disney, Universal Studios, etc.). Our next trip will be to Sanibel Island near Fort Myers Florida.
