Life This is so strange. I don't feel any connection whatsoever with the US. I lived in Canada for over 30 years and have even been gone from there a while. Currently I am in Ukraine. I'm married to a Russian woman from Kursk who raised two sons alone. She has been living in Poltava, Ukraine for many years. She is a year younger than me. I've been in Ukraine a while and trying to get into a full time preparatory language program at a university here to study Russian for six months full time. Am currently fighting age discrimination because of a strange "age policy" which has recently surfaced at the school. Right now the Canadian Embassy is trying to provide some support in this regard. If it doesn't work out, I really have no idea where I'll be this winter. I spent four months in Ukraine last year, and it was very culturally isolating. It's one of those places where English is extremely rare. It's not one of the larger eastern european cities (which have some outreach to the West) and Russian not English was the imperial tongue in this neck of the woods, of course.
