George's Story

Life After graduating college in 1971, I came back to Woonsocket High School as a teacher. I taught in the Woonsocket System for 28 years, retiring in 1999. During the year that followed, I traveled around the world many times over as a tour director for Vantage Deluxe World Travel. I had been with the company part-time since 1992. In April,2000, I was hired as a River Boat specialist. While away on tour, it was decided that I would be better suited in a position on the quality assurance team. I had been employed as the quality assurance manager for the company. Later, I went on to work as the on-site quality manager. Our company is ever changing, and by 2004 I was asked to work as a Product Development Administrator. Since leaving RI for Florida, I also have worked remotely as a Product Developer and assistant buyer. Although I talk about retirement, I doubt it is happening anytime soon, as I really enjoy working my work. In 2008, I decided to go back on the road, and I have b...Expand for more
een a tour director for Vantage's National Parks Program. Some previous highlights include a Fulbright Fellowship to India in 1974, and an MA in Asian Studies in 1975 from New York University. I owned Ambassador Travel from 1976 until I sold it in 1983. I then went to work part time at Johnson and Wales University as an evening instructor. During the summers I worked as a tour director for Paragon tours and Vantage Deluxe World Travel. I always kept my teaching position at Woonsocket High. For a while I worked at Delta Airlines in the reservation department. Overall, I feel my life has been a success. I am able to travel more in one year, than most people can even imagine they could in a lifetime. Based on a group I belong to, I am among one of the most traveled people in the world. Believe or not, I lived in Woonsocket until March, 2007. However, I needed to make a change, and I have relocated to Orlando, FL! Although I am not completely retired, I am enjoying my new location.

This past weekend, I attended a a most enjoyable college reunion/homecoming for Ricker. in Houlton, Maine. This ticket is from an October 3, 1973 concert at the college. I thought all the Bruce Springsteen fans would enjoy
It was 55 years ago that I first arrived at Ricker. This should be a great weekend reminiscing about those college years.

The parks .....Bryce and Zion are just beautiful. No picture does justice to their beauty. Today at Rainbow Point, I finally had my picture taken at the elevation sign. I know I took thousands of photos of my Vantage passen

I just read
that this car is getting some official recognition as the 14th vehicle entered into the National Historic Vehicle Register. It is is a 1938 Buick concept car.
This morning, rather than sit in the lobby of the hotel, I walked in the center of Zurich.
