Dave's Story
Life
Completed Batchelor's in Mechanical Engineering and Master's in Computer Science from UM-Rolla. Retired from Monsanto/Pfizer after many years of developing computer graphics technology and creating computer based education for manufacturing safety. In 1989 received the National Computer Graphics Association's annual award for Advancement in Computer Graphics. Been married since 1972 to Kathy (Vander Kraats) and we had boy/girl twins in 1979 (Alan now teaches at DePaul-Chicago and Abby is a teacher's aid and working on her Master's in Education; both are married with a total of 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter); Kathy is a retired elementary music teacher. Church work, travel, model trains, choral singing (baritone), and woodworking occupy my time. Still live in Florissant area. Have visited all 5...Expand for more
0 states and Puerto Rico. Lectured in Germany, France, Malaysia and visited about 2 dozen other countries while cruising the high seas. While my education was highly technical in nature (Thank You to Audrey Taylor in Jr High Math), I always tell folks that my most valuable life experiences were learning to write while on the staff of "Scoop" (thanks to George Friesen and George Sweet), learning to perform in college musical theater ( "Brigadoon" and "Once Upon A Mattress"; if a man can sing on stage in front of 500 people, without wearing pants, he will never again experience stage fright), and at Monsanto learning to speak in public and craft a business proposal (thanks Wayne Mosher, Darold Jackson, Bill Zimmermann, Gary Hopwood). Still enjoy puns and a good clean joke. Have had a happy life (so far).
